Emir, Premier send greetings to Iceland

Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a cable of greetings to the President of the Republic of Iceland on the occasion of his country’s National Day. The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani sent cables of greetings to Iceland on the same occasion.

Human rights a strategic option  for Qatar: Minister

 
Cairo: The Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Affairs H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed bin Jabor Al Thani said here yesterday the strengthening and protection of  human rights is a strategic option for  Qatar. 
The Minister noted that the protection of human rights constitutes the backbone of the policy of comprehensive constitutional, economic, social, cultural and educational reform  that had been adopted by Qatar, saying this concern has been reflected in the development and strengthening of the human rights infrastructure  at the legislative and institutional level.  That was stressed in the  comprehensive development vision (Qatar National Vision 2013) which was approved by Emiri Decision No. 44 of 2008, he said.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohamed, who led Qatar’s delegation to the 4th session of the Arab Commission for Human Rights to discuss Qatar’s report on rights and freedoms, expressed his country’s appreciation to and belief in the establishment of an Arab mechanism to promote and protect human rights principles in the Arab region.
He explained that Qatar has formulated a plan of  actionto prepare the national report which included the formation of a national committee as per a cabinet decision.

Kahramaa launches fast track service for special people

 
Doha: Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has launched the ‘fast track’ service for the disabled,  aged and female customers at Customer Service main office at Al Hilal to minimize the waiting time. The new service comes within Kahramaa endeavor to provide high quality services to ensure customer satisfaction.
The new service gives the special need customers, aged people, as well as women the priority in receiving services at customer service main office. A and B tracks have been assigned for them for installations and customer care requests respectively. Other tracks are given second priority.
The fast track initiative reflects Kahramaa’s social responsibility and commitment to provide high quality services to customers. It comes within the continuous development of services Kahramaa pursues and its reaction with customer needs.  It seeks to save time and effort, and facilitate all procedures for customers especially those with special needs, aged people, and women.
