Beijing: Chinese authorities have evacuated 37,600 people from Guangdong Province in southern China due to torrential rains that have swept across large parts of the province in recent days.

The provincial emergency management department stated that no casualties have been reported so far, while authorities have raised the emergency response level to Level III for flood control and disaster relief.

Several cities have taken precautionary measures, including suspending classes and adjusting train schedules to mitigate the risks posed by the severe weather. Local governments have implemented field measures based on the level of risk in each area.

This comes as the Guangdong Meteorological Observatory forecasts continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in the southern regions until today, with a gradual decrease expected starting tomorrow, Friday.
