Doha, Qatar: The State of Qatar welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran on addressing the outstanding issues between them, including the cessation of military operations and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, said that Qatar considers this a renewed affirmation of both parties' will to move forward in resolving their differences through negotiation and peaceful means, and to enhance prospects for sustainable peace and economic growth at the regional and international levels.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed the State of Qatar's full appreciation for the partnership and efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and all regional and international parties, to de-escalate tensions and bring viewpoints closer together, leading to the signing of this memorandum.
The Ministry emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding represents a solid foundation for moving forward into the next phase of negotiations between the American and Iranian sides, and called on all parties in this regard to maintain the positive spirit, good offices, and joint coordination to ensure comprehensive and sustainable outcomes.
The Ministry affirmed the State of Qatar's continued full support for all efforts and good offices aimed at enhancing regional security and stability, and reaching sustainable solutions to outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and good neighborliness — contributing to opening new horizons for cooperation, development, and prosperity, and serving the common interests of the peoples of the region and the world.
