Doha: The State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, participated in the 18th specialist committee meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states' Zakat authorities.
Held via videoconference on Tuesday, the meeting came in the context of efforts to strengthen cooperation and coordination among GCC member state Zakat authorities, exchange institutional expertise and experiences, and discuss joint initiatives aimed at developing the Zakat system, in line with digital transformation and enhancing Zakat service quality.
Head of Zakat Services Section Ahmed Jaber Al Jarbouei represented the Ministry at the meeting.
Participants discussed a number of items on the agenda, foremost among them projects aimed at knowledge sharing and facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices.
The meeting also addressed joint Gulf initiatives aimed at coordinating media and awareness-raising efforts and implementing synchronized programs and activities to raise awareness about Zakat, highlighting its objectives as well as its impact on development and society, and, fostering a culture of social responsibility.
The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs affirmed that the Zakat Affairs Department's participation in the specialist committee meeting stems from its commitment to actively contribute to joint Gulf initiatives and to strengthen cooperation among GCC member state Zakat authorities as to keep pace with rapid developments in digital transformation and institutional excellence.
The Zakat Affairs Department is keen on taking part in GCC-level specialist committee meetings, the Ministry said, based on the Department's conviction that joint action is fundamental to developing Zakat services, exchanging expertise, and devising future plans to enhance operational efficiency and achieve the highest quality and excellence standards.
