DOHA: The Doha International Family Institute will host an international seminar to discuss challenges, solutions and policy implications regarding the Arab family unit next week.

The seminar, which will take place in Doha on September 23, will launch the 11th Annual Arab Network for NGOs report, which details the role NGOs play in confronting challenges afflicting the Arab family.

The forum will provide scientific evidence-based research that sheds light on changes impacting the Arab family as a result of modernity and globalisation. The research findings will create a solid base for policy-making.

A prominent group of international and regional experts, in addition to local NGOs, policymakers and researchers, will address topics including, cultural challenges, violence against women and family separations.

The research findings will also reveal the needs of today’s Arab family to ensure their positive contribution to the overall future growth of society.

Dr Wissam Al Othman, on behalf of Dr Fatma Al Kubaisy from Qatar, and Dr Ali Leila from Egypt will explore Qatar’s social challenges.

Other speakers, including Dr Amani Kandil from Egypt, Dr Kamel Mahanna from Lebanon and Dr Abdellatif Kaday from Morocco, will discuss the concept of social challenges and results of the annual report.
