MANILA: A police official was shot dead inside the New Bilibid Prisons in Muntinlupa City yesterday morning. Radio reports said Senior Superintendent Roque Vega, chief of the Muntinlupa City police, has confirmed the killing. The reports said that Senior Superintendent Francisco Abunales was just leaving on board his vehicle when he was ambushed at the NBP Reservation at around 8am. Abunales died while undergoing treatment at the Medical Center Muntinlupa at around 9:30am.
Gunman kills narcotics officer
MANILA: A gunman shot dead an information officer of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cebu City. PDEA director general Arturo Cacdac Jr said that PDEA Information Officer 3 Jesus Tabanao was gunned down by the unidentified assailant past midnight of September 15 in Barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City. “He alighted from the vehicle and proceeded to the rear of his pick-up truck. Then suddenly, an unidentified gun-wielding man got off from a motorcycle in the opposite lane, approached Tabanao and shot him in the back several times, killing him instantly,” Cacdac said.
The assailant immediately fled on board a motorcycle toward the southern part of the city, Cacdac said.
Woman held with firearms
LA Trinidad: Police arrested on Monday afternoon a 53-year-old woman for keeping several firearms in her home in San Juan town, Abra province.
Senior Superintendent Benjamin Lusad, Abra provincial police director, identified the woman as Julie Timbreza of Barangay Supi-il.
Lusad said Timbreza was arrested after a police team found several firearms and ammunition from her house.
Among the items recovered from her house were a pistol, calibre 30 with a defaced serial number, a 12-gauge shotgun, bullets, magazines, a black leather holster and a black gun box. Agencies
