
DOHA: The Special Economic Zones being developed by Qatar’s Economic Zones Company (Manateq) are expected to attract heavy investments in health sector. The investments in the country’s health sector will witness a huge rise in the coming years, Fahad Rashid Al Kaabi (pictured), CEO of Manateq said.
“The size of investments in the health sector is expected to exceed the government’s investments in this sector. I also expect a rise in both local and foreign investments in Qatar’s health sector in the coming years”, Al Kaabi stated yesterday.
The Manateq CEO asserted that the company is fully committed to support the private sector in Qatar as well as enhancing its competitive abilities in healthcare field. The company plays an important role to serve the local investors and to attract the potential investors outside the state, who aspire to have access to the Qatari market and invest their capitals in the healthcare sector. The government is tend to expand number of hospitals and diverse medical centres in addition to the establishment of various medical projects.
Manateq is currently developing three projects at different areas of the country. Um Alhoul, located near Hamad port and Ras Bufontas near Hamad International Airport will attract different sectors, including massive investments in the health sector.
Private sector, local and international investors can play an important role in developing the healthcare sector through the numerous advantages provided by the projects of Manateq, the most important is providing a world class infrastructure in order to facilitate and support many economic sectors, especially the healthcare sector, he said.
Manateq yesterday announced its participation in forthcoming Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition and Conference (QMED), the major medical event scheduled to be held in Qatar in December. Such participation in QMED aims to boost the health sector which is considered an important factor in supporting the economy. Manateq concentrates on the economic and industrial development of the medical projects and seeks to be a part of the support and promotion system of the local health industries, he said.
Khalifa Haroun, the manager of the exhibition, expressed his appreciation for Manateq for being one of the main sponsors to QMED. More than 100 national and international corporates and companies are participating in QMED.
