DOHA: Ooredoo’s Chairman, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani, urged businesses in Qatar to take lead in corporate governance, in a keynote speech to Qatar Chamber.
The chamber had invited Sheikh Abdullah to advocate the importance of governance on behalf of the business community.
“Ooredoo believes in compliance with governance policies, as this plays an important role in the company’s performance locally and globally, enhancing investors’ trust,” said Sheikh Abdullah.
“With our continuous development and growth, Ooredoo governance becomes more important than ever, as we strive to meet and exceed the exacting standards of every market we operate in,” he said.
He also outlined policies and directives Ooredoo’s board has in place to protect the interests of all stakeholders.
Policies highlighted included a governance guide, internal audit policies, HR policies guide and financial authorities.
The Ooredoo board reviews and improves our governance policies regularly, and adapts them thoroughly for every country across our footprints, he said.
“We also believe good conduct is not limited to the board members and directors of the company – it is a responsibility of all employees.”The Peninsula
