HMC official appointed as Associate Dean at College of Medicine

DOHA: Dr Abdullatif Al Khal, (pictured), Director, Medical Education,  Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), has been appointed as Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the new College of Medicine at Qatar University.
The Office of the President of Qatar University (QU) announced the appointment yesterday.
Dr Al Khal will report to the recently-appointed Dean, Dr Egon Toft, and represent the college on matters relating to clinical activities of faculty and students. He will also continue to serve in his current roles at HMC.
Dr Al Khal graduated from Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland, in 1989 and joined HMC, completing one-year internship at Hamad General Hospital in 1990.
In 1991, he joined a three-year Internal Medicine Residency training programme at University of Connecticut Medical Center,  US, and completed a two-year fellowship training in infectious diseases at Hartford Hospital.
He was awarded Diploma of American Board in Internal Medicine in 1994 and Diploma of American Board of Infectious Diseases in 1996.
Dr Al Khal has been Head of Infectious Diseases Division since 1998 and Head of Communicable Diseases Clinic since 1997. He is also Manager of National TB Programme and Director of Clinical Aids Programme.
He is also Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He has an advisory role with several public health programmes under the Supreme Council of Health, and continues to publish and conduct research. The Peninsula
