Doha: The fourth week of the Aspire Banks League wrapped up with a number of surprises for many of the participating teams in Doha recently.
Contrary to the performance of every other team, Qatar National Bank (QNB) retained its top spot in the league with a total of 12 points.
They registered another victory in the event, routing Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) 5-1.
QNB’s closest competitor in the league, Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), faced its first loss after a 3-2 defeat against Masraf Al Rayyan.
With the second place ranking now being everyone’s goal, all eyes were on the match between Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Barwa Bank, which ended in an exciting 8-1 win for the former.
The competition for the second place ranking continued with HSBC’s 3-0 triumph against a tough Qatar Development Bank (QDB) side.
QCB, QIIB, Barwa Bank and HSBC close week four with nine points each after the results.
The third place ranking is currently in the hands of Doha Bank, who now has seven points after a 2-0 win against the International Bank of Qatar.
Al Khaliji Bank follows with a 5-0 victory against Standard Chartered, at a time when Commercial Bank lost 3-0 to Al Ahli Bank.
