Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Air Sports Committee (QASC) honored Tuesday the members of the Parachuting Display Team, which broke a global record in Guinness.
The honoring ceremony was held on the margins of the 47th World Parachuting Championship (CISM 2025), currently taking place in Doha.
The Qatari team achieved this milestone after organizing the largest military parachute fireworks display, featuring parachute firework formations, in accordance with globally recognized standards.
The event involved 37 jumpers and a pyrotechnic payload totaling 55.89 kg, and took place last August in Zephyr Hills, USA.
Participating in the ceremony were the Commander of the Joint Special Forces and Chair of QASC, HE Brig. Gen. Mohammed bin Zayed Al Otaibi, and Vice Chairperson of the QASC, Lt. Col. Abdullah Saeed Al Mansouri.
Gold medals and certificates were handed over to members of the parachuting display team, ushering in an era of great achievement by the Qatari team as the best squad globally after this record-breaking milestone - the fifth time in Guinness - making the team an exceptional ambassador in global forums.
On the other hand, the organizing committee decided to postpone today's competitions due to unstable weather conditions, which inhibited the pilots and skydivers from completing their attempts on the fourth day of this tournament, following a consultation with the International Military Sports Council (CISM).
The tournament competitions will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, if weather conditions stabilize following this force de jure case.
