Doha: Qatar’s beach volleyball stars Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan continued their flawless run at the Beach World Championships Adelaide 2025 with a straight-sets win over Austria’s Timo Hammarberg and Tim Berger to reach book a place in the knockout stage yesterday.
Playing their third Pool J match on Court 2, the Olympic bronze medallists edged the opening set 22-20 before dominating the second 21-12 for a 2-0 victory. The result gave the Qatari pair their third successive win in Adelaide.
Earlier in the pool stage, Younousse and Tijan opened their campaign on Saturday with a solid 2-0 (21-18, 21-14) win over Cuba’s Damian Gomez Limonta and Eblis Veranes Kens, followed by another straight-set win next day, defeating Switzerland’s Yves Haussener and Julian Friedli 21-15, 21-15.
Younousse and Tijan face Brazil’s George Souto Maior Wanderley and Saymon Barbosa Santos today in the Round of 32.
