Qatar Petroleum’s Refining Directorate organised a variety of activities to celebrate its Annual Refinery Day 2013, which was held on December 12 at the QP Refinery in Mesaieed Industrial City.
Held with the theme “Add Colors to Your Workplace,” this year’s celebration was attended by Hussain Mohd Al Ishaq, Director of Refining, as well as by many senior officials and staff from the directorate’s various departments.
Al Ishaq said: “The Annual Refinery Day 2013 is an opportunity for us to get together and celebrate our accomplishments this year, as we continue to work collectively to meet our business objectives and operational targets. I would like to express my gratitude to H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of QP, for his strong support and valued guidance, which are instrumental for the continued success of our operations.”
Al Ishaq and the other guests took part in the various activities, which included a health campaign to increase awareness on common health problems like diabetes and hypertension. As part of the campaign, free blood sugar testing and blood pressure checkups were offered throughout the day for the benefit of all employees.
QP’s Annual Refinery Day 2013 also featured a painting activity that involved participation of many employees. A staircase on the bund wall of the tank farm was painted with rainbow colours, while the refinery’s female staff painted some of the palm trees in the area.
Tree planting was another activity that was held as part of the celebration. The staff worked together in planting a total of seven fig trees, thus contributing in making the area greener and in protecting the environment. The celebration concluded with group photos and refreshments for over 300 participants.
