Doha: The Charge d’Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to the State of Qatar, Murad Baseer (pictured) has affirmed that the increase in trade between the State of Qatar and his country makes the two sides closer, adding with the opening of the new shipping lines between Hamad Port and Karachi port in 2017, the bilateral trade between our countries has increased to 70.5% in the post siege period, indicating that it now stands at $1.58bn.
In statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), on the occasion of the National Day, he affirmed that the bilateral trade between the two countries will further increase in the coming years. He believe that Gwadar port and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor will play a crucial role in developing joint ventures linked to the hydrocarbon market and manufacturing in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in times to come.
He praised that Qatar’s move towards self reliance and indigenous production in the backdrop of the siege, while hailing the way the Gulf crisis has been handled by the wise leadership of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the efforts exerted by Qatar to overcome this crisis with all stakeholders. He declared his country’s readiness to provide good experiences and participation in the commercial projects of the State of Qatar to ensure the achievement of food security requirements and the provision of vital needs.
The Pakistani Charge d’Affaires praised the tremendous steps Qatar has taken at the local and international levels in recent decades, attributing this success to H H the Amir and his national vision for 2030, and to the enthusiasm enjoyed by the Qatari people following the blockade. He expressed great pleasure in seeing the State of Qatar progressing quickly towards achieving its national goals, especially the organization of the FIFA World Cup 2022, wishing Qatar and its people the best always.
He congratulated Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the government and the people of the State of Qatar, wishing progress and prosperity of this wonderful country.
