Doha: Ambassador of Egypt to Qatar H E Amr El Sherbiny has stressed that Qatar’s National Day represents an opportunity to recall the strength of relations between Egypt and Qatar, and to praise the two brotherly countries' role in strengthening the bonds of fraternity and bilateral cooperation.
In an exclusive remarks to QNA, he valued Qatar’s choosing of “Our Unity Source of Our Strength” as a slogan for this year's National Day celebrations, especially since it comes during a phase where Arab countries are rebuilding their relationships on firmer grounds of cooperation, offering a better life for all, securing stability for the region, and achieving the aspirations of its peoples in advancement, pride, and prosperity.
El Sherbiny indicated that unity is the slogan and purpose Arab countries have sought for years, pointing out that unity represents the foundation of strength.
On this occasion, the Egyptian Ambassador extended his congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari government, and the people of Qatar that have historical fraternal bonds and ancient deep-rooted relations with the Egyptian people.
He expressed his pride in the State of Qatar’s organisation of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 which is taking place for the first time in an Arab country, praising the immense efforts that the State of Qatar carried out to host this tournament.
El Sherbiny pointed out that this global event will provide a qualitative contribution and a sustainable legacy for the Arab world to memorialise, introducing at the same time the tournaments fans' to the authentic Arabic culture.
He commended the qualitative breakthrough of the Egypt-Qatar relationship in all aspects, stressing the strength of these relationships at their various axes, which were crowned by the visit of President of Egypt H E Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Doha on September 13-14, and before it the visit by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Cairo on June 24-25.
El Sherbiny said that the mutual visits of the leaders of both countries, in addition to the periodic mutual ministerial visits, affirm the keenness of Egypt and Qatar to deepen the mutual relations at all levels, pushing them forward in all political and economic fields.
Also, the participation of President H E Abdel Fattah El Sisi in the opening of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in Doha formed a demonstration of the depth and strength of the Egypt-Qatar relations and the momentum and rising scale they are witnessing, pointing out the cultural cooperation that constitutes a significant component of soft power in the relations between the two countries.
