Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met at Al Bahr Palace yesterday with Dr Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the accompanying delegation, who are visiting Qatar to attend the 24th Men’s Handball World Championship.
The IOC President presented the Emir with the De Coubertin medal, a commemorative medal from the 1894 Conference, of which five editions were awarded to the Heads of State and the sixth edition was granted to the Emir in recognition of his contributions in developing and supporting the Olympic movement in various programs and activities.
