DOHA: The Career Services Center (CSC) at Qatar University (QU) held its annual ‘Employer Recognition Ceremony’ to honour companies and institutions in different sectors who collaborated with QU colleges to train or sponsor their students during 2014.
In recognition of their contribution, 120 employers were presented with trophies by QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla Al Misnad in the presence of QU leaders, deans, faculty and staff.
Prof Al Misnad expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the employers for their essential role in supporting the mission of the university and providing invaluable opportunities to its students to develop their skills and enrich their academic experience.
“This timely event shows the core role of the ongoing collaborations between QU and its partners which contribute to achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision and building a knowledge-based economy. Since its inception, QU is committed to providing its students with accredited high-quality programmes, and with the skills and abilities that enable them to compete at the highest level in the labour market,” she added.
She also noted that QU is committed to strengthening relations with its partners and always keen to engage employers on their needs and expectations and to respond by developing and enriching its curricula, which is reflected by the establishment of the new College of Medicine (CMED) that is designed to address the increasing need for Qatar-trained physicians, and to support the country’s growing healthcare sector and national strategies in healthcare and education.
Prof A Misnad also introduced the new CMED Dean Dr Egon Toft who gave a presentation about the college, updating the audience on current progress, program design, learning outcomes and future prospects.
