DOHA: Under the patronage of the Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, the Social Development Centre (SDC), a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced that it would be hosting its eighth Gala Dinner on March 6.
Held in partnership with ExxonMobil in Qatar, the dinner is one of the centre’s most anticipated charity events, raising funds for SDC’s key community development initiatives. Famous for its unique culture-themed attractions, the Gala Dinner this year will reflect a tropical Brazilian theme and will be dedicated to friendship and cooperation between Qatar and Brazil. The event will also feature a charity auction, including an exclusive range of prized collectibles.
Amal Al Mannai, Executive Director of SDC, said: “We are honoured and excited to once again host the Gala Dinner, which is one of the centre’s key fundraising initiatives. Qatar and Brazil take immense pride in their traditions, cultural heritage, and strong family values, which serve as a common ground for this upcoming event.”
In addition to a creative showcase of SDC’s events and activities, the evening will feature exciting musical and artistic performances, including a freestyle football performance by Brazilian and Qatari entertainers.
The event reinforces some of the common strategic goals and ties that bind Qatar and Brazil, such as hosting some of the world’s biggest sporting events, actively promoting global environmental change and strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations.
Donations collected through the eighth dinner will be allocated to support SDC’s entrepreneurial programmes, including Tanmiya, a development programme to support small and medium enterprises; Rasameel funds to support entrepreneurs; Badr..Wa Int Gadr, a leading programme which offers full entrepreneurship support to individuals and families throughout the country and Reyada – the Qatari Entrepreneur Award, designed to honour Qatari entrepreneurs, individuals and organisations that support entrepreneurial ventures in addition to a new programme targeted at young Qatari entrepreneurs to provide them with small pilot projects and support them through expert guidance.
