DOHA: Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) will hold its fourth disaster management training camp on April 1 in Doha. It aims to attract a new generation of volunteers and train them through theoretical and practical exercises in disaster management and preparedness.
Over 10 days, participants will be trained in several disaster-related issues and field applications. Training will include planning a camp, refugee registration, logistics and warehouse management, distribution of relief items, shelter, psychosocial support, assessment in emergency situations, dealing with the media, team building and leadership skills, communication, operating room and family reunion, defining International Human Law, public health in emergency, including water and sanitation, preventing epidemics, field hospitals, emergency feeding and sorting.
“We are pleased that the training will be attended by 150 volunteers from Qatar and 20 national Red Crescent Societies from the GCC, the Middle East and North Africa, several governmental and non-governmental organisations from Qatar and seven other Arab countries, with 20 trainers and experts from the International Federation and the International Committee of the Red Cross,” said Rashid Saad Al Mohannadi, Director of Qatar Red Crescent Al Khor branch.
