DOHA: Ooredoo yesterday launched Smart Fleet Management Solution to enhance Qatar’s transport sector.
Smart Fleet is designed to fit the needs of any company that has a fleet of vehicles, whether they operate in the services sector, transport and logistics, passenger transportation or construction.
The solution, which is an innovative cloud- based service and deploys GPS and GSM technology, can centralise and manage transport-related information so that companies can plan fleet activities, reduce operational costs and optimise resources.
Smart fleet management technology could provide a vital tool to reduce traffic pressure as companies use the solution to ensure their vehicles avoid jams and keep roads clearer and safer for other motorists.
The service features a driver behaviour analysis tool that enables companies to track employees’ driving abilities and fuel optimisation and saving options.
Waleed Al Sayed, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar, said: “We are going to make 2015 the year of ‘smart services’ for businesses. The launch of Smart Fleet is an important step, since transport companies provide vital amenities for people and goods across the country, and the solution has an immediate impact on their activities.”
Using Ooredoo’s advanced 4G and 4G+ networks, fleet management solutions are able to manage a far higher and more advanced range of data, continually updating fleet managers on a vehicle’s location and status.
The solution offers features, including route control, real time alarms, administration and fuel management, and fleet security.
Smart Fleet is available for a monthly subscription charge, following a one-off installation fee.
With operational cost savings available through deploying the solution, Ooredoo estimates that businesses will see a return on their investment from the solution in an average of six months.
Other benefits of Smart Fleet include a simple installation set-up and an estimated minimum 25 percent increase in customer satisfaction, maintenance and communication cost savings, and decrease in vehicle and cargo theft.
With M2M fleet management, companies can manage, automate, monitor, route and dispatch a fleet of vehicles within Qatar or internationally. Data capabilities on board allow for managers and drivers to access information
Machine-to-machine technology is fast transforming the face of business in Qatar.
The new-age technology gives businesses the power to communicate directly with each other or with a central command centre, thereby automating daily tasks and delivering maximum output with minimum investment in manpower, time and cost.
