DOHA: Over 20 sports personalities faces will be taking to the greens at Doha Golf Club (DGC), playing 18 holes in 22 teams of 4 with members of the general public.
The final line-up at the ‘Guardian Wealth and Vodafone Keys and Gray Desert Classic’ in association with ‘Old Mutual’ will include an array of stars from the football field, rugby pitch and athletics track, organisers of the event said.
Famous faces from football include Glenn Hoddle, Ruud Gullit, Graeme Souness, Dwight Yorke, Clive Allen, Ron Atkinson, Trevor Steven, Tony Dorigo and ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon. Tom Shanklin will be representing the rugby greats and legendary British track start Liz McColgan will appear from the world of athletics at the 18-hole extravaganza today.
The event will feature on a special programme of the Keys and Gray show on BeIN Sports.
After the sporting greats have competed during the afternoon on Doha Golf Club’s 18 hole Championship Course, guests will be treated to an evening of entertainment on the lawn outside, featuring a stand-up comedian and question and answer session with the legends.
A charity raffle and auction will also feature.
Fans will have the opportunity to talk with and take photos with the sporting stars.
To secure a place in the team and the evening meal with the stars the ricket is priced at QR1,500, while anyone who buys a daytime ticket QR 250will have the option to purchase a second ticket for the evening meal at a reduced price and the Keys and Gray Charity Golf Classic Evening Only Ticket is at QR400.
The evening ticket will also include a barbecue buffet.
All profits will go to the Qatar Cancer Society.
The competition will be followed by an Al Fresco sportsman’s dinner, entertainment from top comedians.
Grand Hyatt Doha and Etihad Airlines are the major sponsors of the event to be hosted in partnership with Vodafone and in association with Old Mutual.
