Doha, Qatar: The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met in Doha on Thursday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, HE Hakan Fidan.
The two sides discussed the developments of the military escalation in the region and its serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability, as well as ways to resolve all disputes peacefully. They touched on enhancing coordination to tackle current challenges.
During the meeting, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated his condemnation of the Iranian attacks on Qatari territory, stating that they are unacceptable under any pretext or justification.
He noted that the State of Qatar has always been keen to distance itself from regional conflicts and has sought to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community.
His Excellency emphasised that the Iranian targeting of energy facilities constitutes a blatant violation of the principles of international law and a serious threat to global energy security, the environment, and freedom of navigation.
He underlined the need to spare the region the consequences of these unjustified attacks and to work towards de-escalation to restore security and stability at both the regional and international levels.
His Excellency also expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support and solidarity of the sisterly Republic of Turkiye with the State of Qatar throughout various challenges, praising the fraternal relations between the two countries and their ongoing coordination, particularly in the sphere of defense cooperation.
For his part, HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye expressed his country's full solidarity with the State of Qatar and condemned the unjustified Iranian attacks on its sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that targeting vital infrastructure and civilian establishments constitutes a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the principles of international law.
