Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Meteorology Department of the Civil Aviation Authority has announced that the winter season will end astronomically on Thursday, March 19, 2026, with the arrival of the spring (vernal) equinox on Friday, March 20, marking the first day of spring.
In a post on X, the department said that the spring equinox occurs when the sun is positioned directly over the equator, resulting in nearly equal hours of day and night.
The department noted that temperatures are expected to gradually rise during the spring season, alongside a steady increase in daylight hours, leading up to the summer solstice in the last third of June.
It also pointed out that on this day, the sun rises from its true east direction.
