Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Press Centre (QPC) has strongly condemned what it described as a “treacherous and ongoing Iranian escalation” targeting the State of Qatar, particularly its vital infrastructure, including key energy facilities.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Centre denounced the recent missile strike on the Ras Laffan Industrial City, calling it a dangerous precedent that contradicts claims that only military targets are being attacked. It stressed that the targeting of critical infrastructure constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and poses a direct threat to regional security and stability.
The Centre warned that attacks on vital facilities and residential areas expose civilians to serious risks and could trigger wide-ranging humanitarian and economic repercussions. Such actions, it noted, risk deepening crises and undermining efforts toward stability and development, urging the international community to adopt a firm stance to deter such violations.
The statement also praised the high level of readiness and bravery demonstrated by the Qatari Armed Forces in confronting the attack, commending their vigilance and courage in defending the nation and safeguarding its sovereignty. It further acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities in maintaining security and countering misinformation.
Highlighting the role of responsible journalism, the Centre emphasised that professional and aware media serve as the first line of defence in protecting the internal front, strengthening national awareness, and reinforcing trust in state institutions.
The statement concluded with a prayer for the continued safety and security of Qatar, its leadership, citizens, and residents.
