CEBU CITY – Senate Majority Floor Leader Alan Peter Cayetano on Saturday (April 18, 2015) said running for president remains in his bucket list.But he told reporters in Cebu he will announce his decision in June.
“I never turned my back on running for president. If people will give me the opportunity, why not? But as of now, I am still consulting the people,” Cayetano said.
He said he does not intend to run for vice president.
“If not for president, I would rather not run. Anyway, my term as senator is still until 2019,” Cayetano said.
As this developed, two other officials said they are planning to run for senator in the 2016 elections.
They are Valenzuela Representative Sherwin Gatchalian and Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla of the Department of Energy.
Cayetano, Gatchalian and Petilla were in Cebu Saturday as guest speakers of the Barangay Councilors League of the Philippines Quarterly National Assembly 2015 held in Lapu-Lapu City.
