Doha: The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre, the expatriate outfit of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and collective of Keralite expatriates, has elected its new State Committee office bearers.
Dr. Abdul Samad was elected as president while Saleem Nalakath and PSM Hussein were elected as General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.
The voting was held at Gulf Paradise Hotel where state committee members along with representatives from various district committees were present. IUML State General Secretary PMA Salam was Returning Officer.
PMA Salam said the final list of the new committee members will be announced after the election of the new executive and remaining office bearers. This will be carried out after consultations with district committees.
Dr. Samad, who thanked the voters, said the new leadership will take the organisation to new heights while launching welfare and empowerment initiatives for the members and expatriates.
“KMCC will continue to function while making remarkable contributions for the development of Qatar and ensuring the welfare of its members,” he said.
Hailing from Kozhikode district in Kerala, Dr. Samad has been active in social and cultural spheres in Kerala. The Doha based physician and businessman is the Managing Director of Promise Medical Group. He has served KMCC in various roles and he has been active in social and cultural activities across Qatar since 2004. An active KMCC activist, he served the organisation as Kozhikode District Committee president.
The vice chairman of Middle East Chandrika, Dr. Samad is currently serving Qatar KMCC as Health Wing chairman. Also, he is the Advisory Committee Chairman of Kadameri Rahmaniyya Arabic College Qatar Committee. He is also working with Vadakara CH Centre Qatar Committee as Advisory Committee Chairman.
Saleem Nalakath, hailing from Malappuram district, is noted author and orator.
The former leader of Muslim Students Federation (MSF), he has served various feeder organisations of IUML in Kerala.
He has served KMCC Qatar as General Secretary of Malappuram District and Perinthalmanna Constituency committees. The active KMCC leader was earlier elected as KMCC Qatar State Committee Secretary.
Former MSF leader PSM Hussain has served IUML and its feeder outfits in various positions along with KMCC Qatar. He has worked as KMCC Qatar State Committee Secretary and Thrissur District Committee President and Secretary in various terms.
