Doha: The Honours Programme at the Deanship of General Studies at Qatar University aims to equip all enrolled students with the right skills and prepare them for the job market. This is achieved by providing an exceptional learning environment for talented and ambitious students, offering them a rich academic experience primarily based on self-learning, which ultimately produces distinguished future leaders.
The programme is considered one of the leading initiatives in the region and the Arab world, specifically designed for students seeking academic excellence and creativity. Several graduates from the 2023 batch hailed the programme and what it has offered to its students.
Dean of General Studies, Dr. Ibrahim Al Kaabi said the programme enhances the university’s strategy for excellence in education. He added that the Deanship of General Studies has launched a developmental plan for the programme to achieve the vision of the university and Qatar National Vision 2030.
The plan includes the new pillars of Qatar University’s excellence in education, which focuses on learner-centric education that is experiential, research informed, digitally enriched and entrepreneurial, and enhances student competencies to acquire the qualities of graduates from QU, such as creativity, lifelong learning, awareness of local and international issues, as well as social responsibility, leadership, and entrepreneurial thinking.

The course’s current vision is based on providing the optimal model to achieve excellence at QU in terms of outstanding and diverse educational content, in addition to innovative initiatives that prepare students to become future leaders capable of keeping pace with global changes around us.
In a statement, Dr. Yousri Marzouki, Director of the Honours Programme, said: “The programme aims to provide talented and ambitious students with a unique, unconventional, rich, and multidisciplinary academic experience primarily based on self-learning, in addition to focusing on developing qualitative skills in the fields of research and experimentation, which extend beyond the scope of study, giving students space for innovation and exceptional leadership through active and interactive learning.”
Mohammed Mahmoud Maher, a graduate of the Honours Programme, commended the course for honing his skills, saying, “For me, the programme is a wonderful opportunity for students who possess excellent academic skills and a desire to challenge themselves and enhance their academic level. The programme also provides a learning opportunity in a stimulating environment under the supervision of experienced professors in their fields.
Participating in the programme allows students to broaden their knowledge and understanding of academic subjects and enhances the skills they acquire in various aspects, including academic skills as well as professional skills.
