DOHA: The technical meeting hosted by the Organising Committee of the Schools Olympic Programme (SOP) with teachers from participating schools opens here Wednesday at Sharq Hotel.
The meeting will discuss the modalities and regulations for the SOP seventh edition to be staged under theme of 'Sport and Integrity', a Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) notification said.
Officials from the QOC, the Supreme Education Council and SOP seventh edition partners the Ministry of Interior, the International Centre for Sport Security, Qatar Anti-Doping Commission and Qatar Anti-Doping Laboratory are attending the meeting.
The organising committee will meet teachers of participating schools on June 19 to brief them about registration procedures for the seventh edition.
Registration for team sports will start on June 19 and end on September 19.
Registration for individual sports will open 45 days prior to each event and close a week before the start of the competition.
The draw for boys' and girls' competitions will be conducted on September 22.
The QOC and the SOP organising committee also revealed that shooting had been included in SOP as a new discipline.
With this, the total number of SOP sports events has increased to 11, including volleyball, basketball, football, handball, athletics, tennis, gymnastics, swimming, fencing, table tennis and shooting.
The opening ceremony of the seventh edition will be held September 25, organising committee had announced earlier.
The sports events start September 30 and the closing ceremony of the girls competitions will be held on April 3, 2014 while the boys competitions will close April 4, 2014. (QNA)
