Doha, Qatar: MES Alumni Association (MESAA), under the Aegis of MES Indian School, which is Qatar’s first Indian school founded in 1974, was launched with a clear mandate to reunite their former students from around the world with the institute.
MESAA strives to maintain strong ties with former students, fostering a lifelong connection between the institution and its accomplished alumni.
The Association recently convened for its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at MES Indian School, during which the newly appointed management committee members were warmly welcomed.
Shaheen Shafi, the former President, expressed his utmost confidence in the new committee and underscored the significance of fostering team spirit among its members and the association at large. The formation of the committee was overseen by the MESAA advisory board chairman, Ziad Usman.
The newly appointed office-bearers for the term of 2023-2025 are as follows: Executive Committee: Fazil Hameed, President; Amanat Solanki, Vice-President; Samra Mahboob, General-Secretary and Nayeema Basheer Treasurer.
Joint Secretaries are Joel Mathews, Mohammed Nabeel, Abraham Varghis, Ashfaq Nassir, Samiha Sooppi and Abin Arjunan.
Over the past two years, MESAA has successfully organised a range of impactful events, including the widely attended ‘Meet the Teacher,’ which drew nearly 500 participants over 2 sessions, including 11 former school teachers.
Additionally, the association arranged a dynamic ‘Meet the Alumni’ event at the MES campus, where accomplished alumni engaged with approximately 550 students.
MESAA also contributed to the community through initiatives such as blood donation camps, sports festivals spanning over six games, including football, cricket, volleyball, throwball, badminton and e-sports. Close to 450 former students participated.
Besides, BK Mohd Kunhi Elocution Competition, a speech contest for MES students honouring the school’s former principal, was organised.
Furthermore, the MES Alumni Association actively promotes batch reunions and networking opportunities among former students. Through gatherings during Iftar, Sports Day celebrations, and other festivities, alumni have the chance to reconnect and strengthen their bonds with one another.
