Doha, Qatar: The National Planning Council released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May 2026. The overall index reached 110.05 points, down 0.51 percent from April 2026.
A comparison of the main components of the Consumer Price Index for May 2026 with April 2026 shows that five categories recorded decreases, four recorded increases, while three remained unchanged.
A statement by the Council yesterday said: “The largest decline was in the Transport category, down 3.85 percent, followed by Recreation and Culture at 1.32 percent, Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 0.93 percent, Restaurants and Hotels at 0.92 percent, and Furniture and Household Equipment at 0.07 percent”.
The statement added: “Increases were recorded in Food and Beverages by 1.84 percent, followed by Clothing and Footwear by 0.39 percent, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels by 0.32 percent, and Education by 0.01 percent, while no change was recorded in Tobacco, Communications, and Health. Consumer Price Index excluding Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels”.
