DOHA: Academy Award® winning film, ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ will screen on July 25 and 27 at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Auditorium as part of monthly DFI UK Cinema Showcase.

‘The Bridge on the River Kwai’ tells the story of a British colonel who co-operates to oversee his men’s construction of a railway bridge for their captors, while oblivious to a plan by the allies to destroy it after settling his differences with a Japanese prisoner-of-war camp commander.

Included in the top 100 British Films rated by the British Film Institute, the movie will take viewers into a captivating epic journey back to the World War II era. It won seven Academy Awards in 1958, including Best Picture, Best Director for the legendary British filmmaker David Lean, and Best Actor for Alec Guinness.

DFI UK Cinema showcase will continue next month with Carol Reed’s Academy Award® winning musical ‘Oliver!’ to be shown on August 29 and 30.
