Qatar jump five spots in FIFA World rankings

ZURICH: Qatar have jumped five spots in world rankings, FIFA has announced.
According the rankings list released by FIFA, Qatar are ranked 79.  Last month Qatar were ranked 84.  Qatar, coached by Daniel Carreno, have a tally of 425 points.
‘Al Anabi’ are a notch behind Jordan who have 438 points.
In Asia, Qatar are ranked 9th.
Iran are the top side in Asian continent. Iran are ranked 39 in the world. South Korea are second in Asia, ranked 48th in the world.
Uzbekistan are third in Asia. Uzbekistan are ranked 56 in the world. Japan (57) are ranked fourth in Asia followed by Socceroos (58) and Saudi Arabia (65).
The UAE are ranked 7th in Asia followed by Jordan at 8th.  
Qatar will play four friendlies in August before their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Iran on September 1 in Tehran.
Qatar Football Association (QFA) last month confirmed the national team’s final training camp in August ahead of the next phase of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The training camp will be held in Zurich from August 10 to 20.
Fareed Mahboob, the national team manager, said: “The dates of the next training camp have been finalised. ‎All arrangements are in place. We are now approaching a very important phase of our preparations.”
Mahboob said the national team will play four friendlies in August. Qatar have listed a friendly against Iraq on August 8 followed by the training camp in Zurich.
Qatar will also play a friendly during their training camp in Switzerland. The game will be played against Real Betis. Al Anabi will play another friendly against Jordan followed by a match against Thailand.
The aforementioned games will be played before Qatar flies out to Tehran for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Iran on September 1.
Qatar have Iran, South Korea, China, Uzbekistan and Syria in their Group.
