London:  Qatar’s Abdulrahman Abdulqader won the gold medal of men’s shot put (F34) at the Para-Athletics Championships in London, which will continue until July 23, with the participation of more than 1,100 athletes from 95 countries.
Abdulqader won the first place and the gold medal after scoring 11.38 meters in a new achievement for the sport of special needs, where he surpassed Iran Mohsen Kidi, who won the silver medal scoring 10.89 meters, Ecuadorian Maurice Valencia for his part, won the bronze medal with 10.63m.
Abdulqader was the first Qatari medalist in the history of the Paralympic Games when he won the silver medal in Men’s Shot Put (F34) at Paralympic Games (Rio 2016) last year.
The Qatari delegation participating in the Para-athletics Championships in London consists of Dr. Hassan Al Ansari, Secretary General of the Qatar Sports Federation for Special Needs, as head of the delegation, Mohammed Dahim Al Dosari as the team manager, Mohammed Suhail as Technical Manager, Al Hassan Abu Thalja, Walid Maghmoul, Nabil Al mousalmani as coaches, Anis Bougmoura as specialist physiotherapy, and players: Abdulrahman Abdulqader, Nasser Al Sahoti, Mohammed Al-Kubaisi, Khaled Al Hajri and Mohammed Khallas, in addition to Sarah Masoud.
The team held their outdoor camp in Poland from June 12 to July 3 in preparation for the World Championship.
