QE investors’ wealth rises to QR605.34bn

DOHA: Qatari stocks last week made gains of nearly QR19bn, one of the best in weeks, taking the market cap to QR605.34bn, up 3.33 percent compared to QR586.36bn at the end of the previous week.
Qatar Exchange’s (QE) benchmark index soared by 365.08 points (3.33 percent) during the week when the bourse closed yesterday at 11,320.39 points.
The remarkable performance helped Qatari stocks recovering some of their lost ground and cross the psychological barrier of QR600bn-mark.
Trading value during the week increased by 10.37 percent to reach QR2.13bn compared to QR1.93bn the previous week.
Trading volume increased by 1.83 percent to reach 50 million shares as against 49.10m shares the previous week, while the number of transactions rose by 10.99 percent to reach 28,360 compared to 25,551 deals.
The banking and financial services sector led traded value during the week with 38.73 percent of the total.
The industries sector accounted for 20.12 percent, the real estate sector 10.80 percent and the telecoms sector 9.89 percent.
The banking and financial services sector led traded volume with 29.97 percent of the total.
The real estate sector accounted for 22.34 percent, the industries sector 18.19 percent and the telecoms sector 13.68 percent, reports QNA.
The banking and financial services sector also led traded number of transactions during the week with 30.14 percent of the total.
The industries sector accounted for 22.87 percent, followed by the real estate sector at 13.90 percent and the telecoms sector at 12.49 percent.
Of the 43 listed companies, 25 ended higher during the week, 18 fell and one remained unchanged.
Qatar National Bank led trading value during the week, accounting for 12.56 percent of the total.
Industries Qatar accounted for 10.29 percent and Qatar Islamic Bank 8.04 percent.
