ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that advanced steps must be taken with Syria in order to sabotage plans targeting the region, stressing his country's commitment to the territorial integrity of Syria.

In a press statement on Friday, Erdogan added that Turkey has no ambitions in the territory of Syria, and the Syrian people are our brothers, and Turkey attaches importance to Syria's territorial integrity, and the regime must realize this. He went on saying that Turkey has always been part of the solution and we have taken upon ourselves the responsibility towards Syria, and our goal is to maintain regional peace and protect our country from the dangerous threats arising from the crisis.

In another context, the Turkish president indicated that he will discuss the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, explaining that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for Russia, through Turkey, to remove all mines in the area of Zaporizhzhia.

The Turkish president participated on Thursday in tripartite talks that included the Ukrainian president and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, during which they reviewed the situation regarding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and the threats posed by military operations in its area, the issue of Ukrainian grain export through the Black Sea and the reconstruction of areas affected by military operations.
