Afghan troops kill 24 Taliban militants

Kabul: At least 24 Taliban militants were killed following military operations by Afghan national army (ANA) forces in the past 24 hours.
Afghan Defence ministry spokesman Gen Zahir Azimi said the operations were conducted in three different provinces.
General Azimi confirmed that 24 militants were killed and 13 others were injured during the operations.
He said Afghan army soldiers also confiscated various types of weapons, ammunition and explosives including 26 rounds of improvised explosive device (IED) during the operations.
The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far. 
56,000 rescued from floods
Islamabad:  Pakistan Army troops have rescued 55,967 persons to safer places and distributed 1,816 tonnes ration of flood hit areas during relief and rescue operation in recent floods.
About 24 medical camps have been established where army doctors have treated 17,182 patients, according to (Pakistan Radio).
Besides, 24 relief camps have also been established in major cities including Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan and Karachi.
Up to 90.2 tonnes of ration collected in the relief camps so far has been dispatched to flood affected areas.
Meanwhile, Corps Commander Multan Lieutenant General Abid Pervez said that Pakistan Army will continue to extend all possible cooperation for the rehabilitation of flood affected people.
