DOHA: The Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, will host a four-day international conference for search and rescue teams in Doha next week, officials said.
The conference will start on Monday under the aegis of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) and will bring together search and rescue teams from a number of countries to discuss developments in the areas of disaster response and search and rescue.
The Group will be looking to develop uniform global standards for search and rescue operations. The teams will discuss key issues and develop standardised procedures for cooperation and coordination in the area of disaster preparedness and to improve the capabilities of disaster-prone countries, a local Arabic daily reported.
The Group will also formulate general guidelines for search and rescue bodies to meet international standards and come up with an international classification for search and rescue establishments.
