DOHA: The Meteorology Department said yesterday that the newly established Qatar Network for Seismic Observation was able to observe the earthquake that hit the Mariana Islands yesterday.
The 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred 9,771km from Doha at a depth of 137km. “The ability of detecting such an activity that far from Doha confirms the strength of Qatar Seismic Network, which was established recently,” said a statement issued by the department.
