DOHA: The office of noted Qatar-based Islamic scholar and President of International Union of Muslim Scholars, Dr Yousuf Al Qaradawi has denied allegations linking the scholar and Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, head of the Islamic State (IS) showed in a widely circulated video footage.
The video footage contains an alleged statement by Al Qaradawi saying Al Baghdadi was affiliated to Muslim Brotherhood, Al Sharq reported. The office quoted the recent statement of Al Qaradawi about IS as saying “the supporters of IS believe that several Muslim are infidels. They are also killing innocent non-Muslims. We are against this extremism”.
The office also said that the scholar has nothing to do with Al Baghdadi and those who follow up the statements of Al Qaradawi know very well his stand about IS and other extremists outfits.
