DOHA: Customs officials at Hamad International Airport (HIA) and the Abu Samra border post have seized some quantities of hashish and narcotic pills.
At least 350 narcotic pills were seized from motorists at Abu Samra check post on the Qatar-Saudi Arabia border. The pills were concealed in the dashboards and engines of the cars.
At HIA, 43 grams of hashish was recovered from the luggage of some passengers from Arab countries, Al Sharq reported yesterday.
The custom officials suspected some motorists and checked their cars and luggage and found the nefarious materials.
The culprits have been arrested and handed over to the police along with the seized material for legal action, said Khalid Hamad Rashid Al Kabi (pictured), Head of the Customs Department at HIA.
