Washington: California Department of Fire Protection said that it has contained 50 percent of the raging fire in Southern California that has been going on for 14 straight days.
The Ventura County Fire Department said the fire is now 50 percent contained after having so far burned 271,000 acres.
So far, the overpowering Thomas fire has claimed two lives, caused more than 104,000 people to flee their homes and destroyed 1,313 structures, ABC News reported.
More than 8,526 firefighters have put their lives on their line to stop it, running up a cost of roughly $124 million.
