Beijing: The Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs H E Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi headed a delegation to the Third GCC-China Strategic Dialogue yesterday. He said talks were constructive and would serve interests of both sides. The dialogue’s final statement called for stronger cooperation and dialogue in the future.
Both sides signed a work plan for the 2014-2017 strategic dialogue, which will include negotiations for a free trade zone between the GCC and China.
Al Rumaihi, with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah and GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani co-chaired the meeting with the Chinese side led by Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Chinese President Xi Jinping met the GCC delegation and stressed that China saw its relation with the GCC as a strategic one.
The Qatari team included the Ambassador to China Sultan bin Salmeen Al Mansouri and Yusuf Eissa Al Jaber, Director of the GCC Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry.
FM’s message to Venezuela
Caracas: Venezuela’s Foreign Minister Elias Jaua received a message from the Foreign Minister H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah on relations and means of developing them.
The message was presented by Qatari Ambassador Battal Meajib Al Dossari during a meeting with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Reinaldo Bolivar.
