Doha: The Minister of Trade and Business, H E Sheikh Jassem bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, yesterday paid an inspection visit of the new port project in Mesaieed.
He was briefed on progress of the project and steps to ensure its inauguration in 2016.
The steering committee of the project presented details of the policy of procurement, supply and contracts.
The minister toured the site and got acquainted with latest developments.
Then Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz presided over a meeting of the members of the team in charge of the operational plan of the port.
They discussed the ad-hoc strategy for an efficient operation mechanism based on global practices aimed at the best and most efficient exploitation of the port’s capacity.
The minister affirmed that the project represents a port of great importance as it will support the growth of the local economy and competitive domestic trade and trade with neighbouring countries.
He urged all parties concerned to provide support to ensure completion of the project in a way that reflect progress already achieved and witnessed in all areas in Qatar.
