Khidmat Foundation held its second event, in which two lectures delivered by Siddharth Varadarajan and Aarfa Khanam Sherwani, Founder Editor and Senior Editor at ‘The Wire’ on February 6.
Khidmat Foundation India is a non profit social welfare organisation that has been working for last two years in humanitarian and educational services. It has published several books and organised a series of social/cultural functions in Doha and in India , in 2019 where veteran journalist Vinod Dua was the chief guest.
This year, leading journalist Varadarajan and eminent journalist and famous TV anchor Sherwani graced the occasion with their solemn presence and gave enlightening speeches on the current socio-political situation of India.
Shahid Khan, an entrepreneur and founder president of Khidmat Foundation was the MC of the evening which took place on February 6 at Golden Ocean Hotel, Doha.
A galaxy of dignitaries from various Indian social and welfare organisations attended the function. Shahid Khan introduced both guests from India, Varadarajan and Sherwani to the audience and made a formal appeal to extend their moral support to “The Wire”, digital news portal, which is raising the issues of common man in the era of state sponsored media and yellow journalism.
The function was presided over by a well known social worker and prominent business entrepreneur Hassan Chougle. Apart from the key note speeches from the distinguished guests from India, two books of Khan and an Urdu translation of a book written by famous Qatari author Dr. Emaduddin Khalili were also inaugurated on the occasion.
Khidmat Foundation General Secretary Dr. Neshat Ahmed and Media Secretary Shakil Ahmed read short introductory notes on Sherwani and Varadarajan. Roase Mumtaz, the Vice President of Khidmat Foundation, along with Rashid Alam Rashid and DPS-MIS Principal, welcomed the guests by presenting them bouquets.
