DOHA: Hamad Medical Corporation’s Al Wakra Hospital (AWH) has been awarded Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care (PCC) by Planetree International.

This certification recognises the organisation’s achievement and innovation in delivering person-centered care. AWH is one of only 157 healthcare organisations worldwide to earn this prestigious award and one of just 101 Gold Certified organisations globally.

Building on the foundational work led by the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement (CPESE) to advance staff and patient engagement across the HMC network, the PCC certification marks a significant step forward in strengthening the organization’s capacity to deliver a truly person-centered approach to care.

AWH provides a comprehensive spectrum of medical services, encompassing emergency and inpatient care, specialised outpatient clinics, day procedures, and multidisciplinary services, all dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and person-centered care to individuals and families of all ages.

Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care represents the highest level of achievement in person-centered care, based on evidence and standards.

Person-centered healthcare prioritises the active participation of patients and their families throughout the healthcare process with an emphasis on partnership, compassion, transparency, inclusion, and quality.

To earn Gold Certification, AWH underwent a rigorous assessment process. Planetree representatives conducted a validation assessment that included discussions with patients, families, and staff, confirming the effective implementation of person-centered policies such as non-restrictive visiting hours and shared medical records.
