Qatar ITF Junior Open 2013 kicks off in Doha

Doha: Four Qatari players are competing in the 1st Qatar ITF Junior Open Tournament which kicked off here at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.

The Qatar national team players who are taking part in the event are Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Abdullah Al Juffairi, Ali Abdel Reda and Abdullah Shnan.

A total of 32 players are competing in singles competitions and 16 players will be seen in action in the doubles teams.  The grade 5 event is contested by both boys and girls, said Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) in a press release.

Players from Russia, Great Britain, Turkey, Sri Lanka, India, Italy, Serbia and Japan are taking part in the tournament which ends on March 22.

“The tournament organised by Qatar Tennis Federation under the supervision of the International Tennis Federation will serve to enhance the  skills and performance levels of the young players. The event is a great platform where the players can show their abilities,” said Tariq Zainal of QTF.
