Amateur chefs will get the chance to put their grilling skills to test at the Qatar International Food Festival, where Oryx Rotana is sponsoring the BBQ Live Cooking Competition.
Members of the public will get a chance to test their skills and have their creations appraised by Oryx Rotana’s executive chef, Rainer Muller. Every day, two competitions will take place, during which four selected members of the public will have exactly one hour to present a dish, created from a set of ingredients.
“Our hotel is renowned for its BBQ dishes at Al Nafourah Garden and steak night at Choices Restaurant, so it is only natural that we get involved in this cooking competition. We are providing everything that the contestants will need: the freshest of ingredients, the grills, the cutlery, even the chef’s hat, so that people really get to feel like true chefs and have a true and memorable experience. We also want to share with the public our passion for tasty and healthy food,” said Oryx Rotana General Manager Kevork Deldelian. Anyone over the age of 16 can register for the competition. To give everyone a fair fighting chance, each competitor will receive a ‘black box’ with a similar set of ingredients, and they will then have one hour to create a mouth-watering dish and grill it to perfection.
“I will judge each dish based on taste, presentation, and overall creativity. The winner of each competition will be invited for a Chef Round Table at the Cellar, where I will host the dinner and present the food. Winners will also receive a chef’s hat, a framed photo and a winner’s certificate,” said Muller. The Oryx Rotana BBQ Live Cooking Competitions will take place at 7pm and 9pm on Thursday March 20, and at 5pm and 7pm on each following day of the festival. The Peninsula
