Doha: The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology has invited mobile app developers in Qatar to submit applications for the World Summit Award Mobile (WSA-mobile).
The award will provide winners with international recognition as the world’s best app.
“The award provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate the best of Qatari mobile app developers not only to the nation, but also on an international platform,” said Reem Al Mansoori, Executive Director, ICT & Society Division at the ministry and the competition’s local expert.
“I am pleased to invite mobile app developers in Qatar, individuals or institutions, to submit their applications for the award and seize the opportunity to represent their projects on the international level and get the recognition they deserve,” she added.
Entry is open to any company, organisation or individual in the mobile content and creativity and closes on April 17.
The WSA-mobile is a global initiative, which selects and promotes the world’s best in mobile content and innovative applications that have the ability to enhance daily life.
It also promotes the creation of varied information content and digitalisation of educational, scientific and cultural heritage.
It aims to highlight benefits of the new information society while raising awareness and providing recognition to the highest quality e-Content produced across the world.
The award includes eight categories: m-Business and Commerce, m-Entertainment and Lifestyle, m-Environment and Health, m-Government and Participation, m-Inclusion and Empowerment, m-Learning and Education, m-Media and News, and m-Tourism and Culture.
Apps will be selected by a local panel of judges based on the quality of content, creativity, comprehensiveness, accessibility, design, functionality and technical quality. The final eight apps will be submitted to a global jury who will select four winners.
The winners will be given the opportunity to present their projects to the jury at the World Summit Award Mobile ceremony in Abu Dhabi by end of this year.
