Rome: Atalanta won 2-0 at home to nine-man Bologna Sunday to go seven points clear of the drop zone in the Italian Serie A.
Former Bologna striker Alessandro Diamanti set up Alejandro Gomez for an easy goal to open the scoring in the 27th minute. Gomez scored again on the 45th when Mauricio Pinilla crossed from the right. Pinilla then had a penalty saved on 77 minutes, one before the dismissal of Ibrahima Mbaye. Daniele Gastaldello was also sent off five minutes from time with a second booking.
The Bergamo side moved on 33 points from 30 games as Bologna stayed ninth on 36, eight games from the end of the season.
