Doha: Former Dutch football player Ronald de Boer led a Dutch sports and business delegation to Qatar recently. This was the second such delegation visiting Doha, with the first one coming in March 2012, also headed by Ronald de Boer.

This year’s “Dutch sports infrastructure” delegation comprised 15 Dutch companies specialising in public safety, security, stadium construction and infrastructure sectors.

The aim of the visit was to build on the findings of last year’s visit and identify further cooperation opportunities.

The delegation met several Qatari counterparts such as the FIFA World Cup 2022 Supreme Committee, Aspire Logistics, Qatar Rail, Ashghal, Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning, Customs Authority and Qatar Olympic Committee, in addition to other Qatari private companies such as Gulf Warehouses, Qatar Investment Group, G4S and Lusail Real Estate Development Company.

Dutch Sports Infrastructure is a cluster of companies, working together to create a platform for international exchange of innovations and ideas around the largest sports events like Football World Cups and Olympic Games.

Working closely together with the Dutch government and sports organizations, the Dutch industry seeks for international cooperations for innovations that offer green technologies, efficiency and safety around large international sports events.

Association FME-CWM is the Dutch organisation of enterprises for the technological industry. FME is founder of Dutch Sports Infrastructure in cooperation with the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) and the Dutch Government. Such delegations are organised by FME in cooperation with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Doha.
